LES LAÏS

It may seem strange to give a wine the name of a cow. It’s not so warped once you meet Laïs, a Jersey, in Catalan country; she summarises this wine pretty well. We hope that through these wines we have acquired a combination of freshness, depth and complexity for White Laïs and a balance of freshness, fruit and tannin for the Red Laïs. The very local blend of these two cuvées are a testament to the diversity of our terroir in Calce..

THE PLOTS

D18

It is upon visiting the road D18 between Calce and le Col de la Dona when we realise why it is worthy of a cuvée. Especially this one, which is uniquely based on a selection of the most beautiful aspects of Grenache Blancs and Gris.

Vin d'Indication Géographique Protégée Côtes Catalanes Blanc. Schist Terroir, Grenache gris and blanc, Hand-picked. Maturation in tanks for 18 months, Yield 20hl/ha

Maccabeu

A traditional grape variety in the creation of sweet natural wines, it was devalued in the department because of its strong yield with little explosion of flavours on the palate. It comes from a plot of schist which reveals the freshness and the minerality of the terroir.

Vin d'Indication Géographique Protégée Côtes Catalanes Blanc. Schist terroir, Maccabeu, Hand-picked. Maturation in tanks 18 months, Yield 20hl/ha.

Le Colt d’en Olby

Picture this: the Canigou on your right, the Corbieres on your left hand and the sea in front of you! At 250 metres altitude in the shape of the small of a back, you are in the Colt d’en Olby or the Clos de l’Oubli. A plot of land with grenache noir on a splendid terroir of schist.

Vin d'Indication Géographique Protégée Côtes Catalanes Rouge. Schist terroir, Grenache noir, Hand-picked. Maturation in tanks 18 months, Yield 20hl/ha.

Le Pilou

This cuvée is composed exclusively of the superior grape variety from our winery, the Carignan. Two hundred-year-old grannies side by side on a limestone plateau. They are pampered with love in order to extract the most beautiful grapes: hand-sewn! The aim of this selection is to showcase the characteristics of a grape variety which, despite being noble, is showing her colours.

Vin d'Indication Géographique Protégée Côtes Catalanes Rouge. Limestone terroir, Carignan, Hand-picked. Maturation in tanks 18 months, Yield 20hl/ha.
